About Us
On August 9th, 2011 Dana and Eric Wheeler purchased "Joe Cheap's Sporting Goods" from Joe and Lanus Cheap. Joe Cheap's Sporting Goods had been a successful family business serving Northwest Oklahoma, Southern Kansas, and the Texas Panhandle for over 40 years. After the acquisition the Wheelers changed the name of the business to Compass Athletics and renewed the focus on Team Sales. In 2014 the business was relocated to 2024 Main Street in Woodward. The new building provides Compass Athletics with 3,800 sf of Retail Floor Space and 10,400 sf of Warehouse Space. This allows us to carry a better selection of inventory and service a larger customer base.
In March of 2018 Compass Athletics purchased "The Trophy Case" which was another successful, longtime, family owned business in Woodward. The Trophy Case was moved to our current location and became part of Compass Athletics, LLC. This acquisition allows us to provide the equipment, shoes, uniforms, and training supplies for a winning program, as well as the awards to celebrate that successful season.
Compass Athletics has experienced a tremendous amount of growth since our beginning in 2011. However, we remain a local, family owned business with roots deep in the Northwest Oklahoma communities. We take pride in getting to know our customers and value the relationships developed with them over the years. No matter if it is custom uniforms or a roll of tape, we will do our best to make sure you receive the product on time and as promised.
